On the 18th, high school students and job seekers presented ideas on solving safety issues using robot AI and smart homes... 40 outstanding participants selected for practical robot AI talent training linked to robot company employment support... 80% employment rate last year
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold a 'Robot AI Hackathon' on the 18th from 9 AM to 6 PM at the 4th floor main gymnasium of the Gangnam Sports Culture Center to select trainees for the practical Robot AI talent development program.
The term 'hackathon' is a combination of hacking and marathon, referring to a competition in the software development field where participants produce results within a set time. Prior to the event, applications were accepted from local high school students and job seekers, and participants were selected. Participants form teams, and one mentor is assigned per two teams to provide preliminary training on ideas, implementation methods, and presentation preparation.
In the final competition, each team will present ideas on solving safety issues in Gangnam using Robot AI and creating smart homes for convenient living spaces. After evaluation, three teams with outstanding performance will be awarded the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Encouragement Award, and 40 outstanding trainees will be selected to participate in the Robot AI company employment linkage program.
The trainees will receive three months of theoretical and practical training from robot industry professionals and participate in on-site practical projects. After completing the course, teams will demonstrate scenarios applying their ideas in practice and receive awards for excellent results. Subsequently, a three-month employment support program including special lectures by experts, mock interviews, one-on-one employment consulting, and job placement will be provided. Last year, 80% of participants succeeded in gaining employment at specialized robot companies.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “As we promote Gangnam-gu’s specialized robot projects, we are committed to nurturing practical talents who can work in the fields of AI, software, and robotics.” He added, “We will create Gangnam as a robot-friendly city leading Korea’s robot industry, centered around the Suseo Station area robot hub district.”
