Mid-next month, Swiss 'Ukraine Peace Summit' invites Yoon
President Yoon Suk-yeol held a phone call on the afternoon of the 14th at the request of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which they exchanged views on Korea-Ukraine cooperation and joint efforts to establish peace within Ukraine, the Blue House announced.
President Yoon expressed his pleasure in having the call following the summit with President Zelensky in Kyiv last July, emphasizing that the Korean government is actively participating in the international community's efforts to restore peace and rebuild Ukraine after the war. He also stated, "We will continue to provide the support and cooperation that the Ukrainian people need."
President Zelensky expressed special gratitude for the various support provided to Ukraine through the follow-up measures of the "Ukraine Peace Solidarity Initiative" announced by the Korean government last year, and mentioned, "In the ongoing war situation, I hope to continue solidarity and cooperation with our country."
President Zelensky invited President Yoon to the "Ukraine Peace Summit" scheduled to be held in mid-next month in Wurgenstock, Switzerland, and requested that Korea continue to actively contribute to the international community's efforts to establish peace in Ukraine.
The two leaders agreed to maintain close communication and cooperation for the swift end of the war, restoration of peace, and the freedom, peace, and prosperity of Ukraine, the Blue House said.
