Japanese Kishida meets Korean business leaders, wishing for active economic exchange between the two countries

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with South Korean business leaders visiting Japan to attend the Korea-Japan Business Council at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Tokyo on the 13th, expressing his commitment to Korea-Japan cooperation.


According to a Kyodo News report on the day, Prime Minister Kishida mentioned that next year marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, stating, "We hope to nurture the seeds of various cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries."

Regarding the Korea-Japan Business Council, Prime Minister Kishida said, "I hope it will lead to active exchanges between the two countries' economies in the future." In response, Kim Yoon, Chairman of the Korea-Japan Economic Association (Chairman of Samyang Holdings), said, "We ask for the cooperation of both governments to ensure smooth economic activities."


The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea-Japan Economic Association, together with the Japan side's Japan-Korea Economic Association and the Japan-Korea Industrial Technology Cooperation Foundation, are holding the 56th Korea-Japan Business Council under the theme "Korea-Japan Partnership Leading to the Future" at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo from the 13th to the 16th (main conference on the 14th and 15th).


The meeting is attended by about 300 business figures from both countries, including Chairman Kim Yoon, SK Group Chairman and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Chey Tae-won, and Japan-Korea Economic Association Chairman Mikio Sasaki (former Chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation).


The Korea-Japan Business Council is a representative private economic conference between Korea and Japan, held alternately in both countries every year since the first meeting in 1969.
