229 Species and Over 45,000 Rose Blooms
Full-Scale Promotion of ‘Jwagwangcheon Local Garden’ Registration
Busan's Gijang-gun recently announced on the 13th that colorful roses are in full bloom around Jwagwangcheon Riverside Wittgol Park and Gumojeong Park, welcoming visitors.
Jwagwangcheon Riverside in Jeonggwan, which Gijang-gun has developed as a representative rose attraction in the Busan area, showcases a variety of rose species in full bloom from mid-May to October.
The scent of roses filling the parks has attracted local residents and tourists as a space for rest and healing. Despite abnormal weather this year, the county continuously carried out watering, fertilizing, pest control, and pruning, resulting in many roses blooming.
Currently, Wittgol Park and Gumojeong Park rose gardens have about 45,000 rose plants of 229 varieties, including Carmen W?rth and Montparnasse. Among these, about 5,000 roses were reused from the rooftop garden demolition work at Jeonggwan Aquadream Park earlier this year, saving the county approximately 250 million KRW in rose purchase costs.
Additionally, the county supplemented and expanded about 1,000 rose plants in the green area within Wittgol Park, allowing residents to enjoy the rose scenery along the entire walking path.
Jeong Jong-bok, the county governor, stated, “As Jwagwangcheon Riverside is a representative rose attraction in the region attracting many visitors, we will maintain it thoroughly to make it the best rose garden for rest and healing.” He added, “We will also focus administrative efforts on registering ‘Jwagwangcheon Local Garden’ so that the Jwagwangcheon area can become a landmark garden not only for Gijang-gun but for Busan as well.”
Gijang-gun is actively promoting the registration of the Jwagwangcheon ecological stream area, including the rose garden, as a ‘Local Garden.’
