The meeting, held on the 10th at the Seunghak Campus main conference room, was attended by President Lee, headquarters executives, Student Council President Kim Ho-geun, and Vice Student Council President Kim Seon-woo, among others.
The Promotion Committee is the highest decision-making body related to the consortium university, composed of the presidents of the two universities, the mayor of Busan, representatives from industry, and alumni. Under it, separate teams are formed: Dong-A University General Promotion Team, Dongseo University General Promotion Team, and Busan City Glocal University Support Team, to decide on major glocal-related matters of each institution.
The Dong-A University General Promotion Team is led by Vice President Kang Dae-sung, with participation from Director of Academic Affairs Jeon Mi-ra, Director of Student and Employment Support Oh Eung-su, Director of Admissions Shin Sang-moon, Director of Planning No Young-jin, Director of Administration Park Jae-jin, Director of Finance Seol Young-su, Director of External and International Affairs Park Hyun-tae, Head of Construction Management Division Kwon Tae-jung, Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation Kim Seong-jae, Director of Educational Innovation Kang Young-jo, Dean of Basic Liberal Arts College Kim Jin-gyeong, Director of LINC3.0 Project Choi Jeong-ho, Director of Academic Information Center Lee Jeong-gwan, Head of Computer and AI Engineering Department Lee Seok-hwan, Director of IR Center Oh Ji-young, Student Council President Kim Ho-geun, and Vice Student Council President Kim Seon-woo, all participating in the highest internal decision-making.
Additionally, under the chairmanship of Director of Planning No Young-jin, working committees will be formed in subcommittees such as ‘Governance/Performance Management,’ ‘Education/Research (Academic Structure, Consortium Educational Innovation, Specialized Fields),’ ‘Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration,’ ‘Global,’ ‘Regional,’ ‘DX/Student Support,’ and ‘Public Relations’ to establish execution plans.
At the kick-off meeting, the Dong-A University General Promotion Team shared preparation plans for the official designation and discussed future schedules.
President Lee encouraged, “Let us thoroughly prepare an open consortium university focusing on specialized fields such as profit-type integrated industrial complexes, future energy, healthcare, cultural contents, and B-Heritage, and unite our efforts to produce good results.”
Student Council President Kim said, “We will strive to include at least two student members in each working committee subcommittee to collect and reflect diverse student opinions.”
The ‘Glocal University 30’ project is a government initiative to intensively nurture regional universities by providing a total of 100 billion KRW over five years, with non-metropolitan universities competing for survival.
Dong-A University submitted an innovation plan in a consortium type with Dongseo University for this call and was provisionally designated. The consortium university type, proposed by the Ministry of Education, allows two or more universities to maintain their independence while establishing a joint decision-making body to achieve common goals and apply as a consortium.
Provisionally designated universities must submit an execution plan linked with local governments and regional industries by July 26, and the official designation, selecting about 10 universities, is scheduled to be announced in August.
