Daegu Happiness Promotion Social Service Center (Director Jeong Suncheon) will provide 50 million KRW in transportation expenses to support the stable settlement of local multicultural families.
This project is part of the 2024 transportation welfare project "Together to Daegu."
The transportation welfare project "Together to Daegu" is a welfare enhancement initiative for Daegu citizens utilizing long-unused prepaid transportation card balances through an agreement between Daegu City, DGB U-Pay, and the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. The project promotes public transportation use and provides transportation welfare services for transportation-vulnerable groups, which are entrusted to and operated by the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center.

Starting this year, the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center has decided to identify local multicultural families and support their stable settlement and family life. Eligible recipients are members of multicultural families residing in Daegu City aged between 6 and 65 who participate in family communication activity programs.
Applications can be made through family centers in 9 districts and counties, and 1,000 applicants will receive one transportation card worth approximately 50,000 KRW per person.
Priority is given to recipients such as basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, single-parent families, multi-child families (two or more children), and general multicultural families. Participants in the family communication activity programs selected based on these priorities must use public transportation (bus and subway) to spend time with their families and submit a result report.
Additionally, the carbon-neutral public transportation promotion event "All Ta" is currently underway. From May to September, Daegu citizens aged 14 and older who use public transportation (bus and subway) at least twice a month can apply through the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center website. Each month, 400 people will be selected by lottery to receive a transportation card worth approximately 50,000 KRW.
Jeong Suncheon, Director of the Daegu Happiness Promotion Center, stated, "We will continue to promote various welfare projects to support the stable settlement of multicultural families in the region."
