Donation of 3,000 Lunchboxes and Ingredient Sets
LG Electronics announced on the 13th that it conducted a campaign to donate food to underprivileged groups in Indonesia from the 10th to the 12th.
A total of about 140 people participated in this campaign, including the Indonesian National Food Agency, the volunteer group from Prasetiya Mulya University that developed a solution to convert food waste into compost, and the local nonprofit organization Food Cycle. They donated a total of 3,000 bulgogi lunchboxes with recipes that generate no food waste and sets of ingredients to social welfare foundations located in Jakarta and Tangerang.

According to the UK economic analysis organization EIU, Indonesia is the second-largest producer of food waste in the world after Saudi Arabia. The amount of food waste generated annually exceeds 23 million tons, which is enough to feed about 28 million people, approximately 11% of Indonesia’s population, where hunger remains a serious issue.
LG Electronics has also carried out various campaigns to raise awareness about hunger and food waste worldwide, including Indonesia. In early March, LG Electronics launched a campaign timed with Ramadan, a period when food waste in Indonesia typically increases by more than 20% compared to usual.
LG Electronics Indonesia employs about 3,000 staff members. The company has a total of five corporations in Indonesia: a sales corporation based in Jakarta with 21 branches, a service corporation overseeing about 200 service centers, two manufacturing plants, and a research and development corporation established this year.
Lee Tae-jin, head of LG Electronics Indonesia, said, "As a global leader in the home appliance market, we will continue various ESG activities for a better life for all, as well as providing differentiated customer experiences in Indonesia."
