On the 13th, Choo Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, and Park Chan-dae, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, are scheduled to have their first meeting to discuss current issues such as the 'organization of the 22nd National Assembly.'
On the 12th, Floor Leader Choo told reporters that he plans to visit Floor Leader Park at the National Assembly on the 13th to offer congratulations on his inauguration. Floor Leader Choo was elected as the ruling party's floor leader on the 9th, and Floor Leader Park was elected as the opposition party's floor leader on the 3rd for the 22nd National Assembly.
However, a fierce battle of nerves is expected between the two sides. Although the Democratic Party has declared its intention to take the chairmanships of the Steering Committee and the Judiciary Committee, the People Power Party insists that it cannot concede these two standing committees.
There is also a possibility of exchanging opinions on the 'Special Prosecutor Act for Chae Sang-byeong,' which is expected to be re-voted at the end of this month, and the Democratic Party's 'Special Measures Act,' which includes providing 250,000 won per citizen.
When asked about the strategy for the re-vote on the Special Prosecutor Act for Chae Sang-byeong, which is expected to face a presidential veto (request for reconsideration), Floor Leader Choo said, "I have conveyed the party's position several times." Regarding the Democratic Party's push for the Special Measures Act, he was reserved, saying, "If positions are announced immediately whenever there is an issue, there can be no dialogue between the two sides."
