First Private Meeting Since General Election...Purpose of Introduction Meeting

The Presidential Office, the government, and the People Power Party will hold their first private high-level consultation since the April 10 general election on the afternoon of the 12th at the Prime Minister's residence in Samcheong-dong.

According to officials from the Presidential Office and the government, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Presidential Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok will attend the meeting. From the party side, newly appointed Emergency Response Committee Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo and Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho will participate.

A government official explained, "Since the new party leadership has been formed, this meeting is a courtesy visit."

This is the first high-level party-government-Presidential Office consultation since the general election. As the third-term appointments in the Presidential Office and the People Power Party leadership have recently been finalized, it appears that this meeting is arranged as an introductory session.

After the general election, President Yoon appointed Jeong Jin-seok as Chief of Staff, Hong Cheol-ho as Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, Kim Joo-hyun as Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, and Jeon Gwang-sam as Senior Secretary for Civil Society.

Additionally, Emergency Response Committee Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo announced the appointment plan for emergency committee members and party positions, nominating lawmakers Yoo Sang-beom, Jeon Ju-hye, Eom Tae-young, and elected member Kim Yong-tae as nominated emergency committee members.

Although the party-government-Presidential Office consultation on this day is primarily a courtesy meeting, there is a possibility that sensitive national issues may be discussed. In this case, agenda items are expected to include the establishment of the Low Birthrate Response Planning Department, which President Yoon mentioned at a press conference on the 9th, the 'Special Prosecutor Law on Chae Sang-byeong'?which has a high possibility of veto exercise?and allegations related to First Lady Kim Geon-hee.

President Yoon is also reported to have a dinner with the new party leadership on the 13th.
