Apple is reportedly finalizing a contract with OpenAI to integrate the generative artificial intelligence (AI) ChatGPT into its iPhone smartphones, according to foreign media reports.
According to foreign media on the 11th (local time), Apple has agreed to use ChatGPT starting from the next iPhone operating system iOS18 and is finalizing the contract with OpenAI.
The foreign media predicted that Apple will unveil the ChatGPT integration for the iPhone at next month's Worldwide Developers Conference. It is also reported that Apple is negotiating with Alphabet, Google's parent company, over the license to use Google's generative AI, Gemini. Both Apple and Google have not yet reached an agreement but are continuing discussions.
Another foreign media outlet also reported that Apple plans to introduce the next-generation Siri at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
Foreign media expect that by integrating ChatGPT, Apple will further enhance Siri's existing capabilities such as setting timers, creating calendar appointments, and managing shopping lists. This is interpreted as an intention to strengthen Siri's AI assistant abilities rather than directly competing head-to-head with ChatGPT.
