Death by stabbing with a sharp weapon on the rooftop near Gangnam Station on the 6th
Ex-boyfriend arrested... Profiler interview scheduled for the 10th
The funeral of victim A, who was stabbed to death by medical student Choi (25) with a weapon on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station in Seoul on the 6th, was held on the 10th. It is known that A's funeral was conducted without a mourning hall in accordance with the bereaved family's wish to "send him off quietly."
A was stabbed and killed by Choi with a weapon on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 5 p.m. on the 6th. A was a middle school classmate of Choi, and it is reported that they once dated. Choi, who scored a perfect score on the college entrance exam and attends a certain medical school in Seoul, stated in the police investigation that he committed the crime because his girlfriend told him "let's break up."

Choi admitted in the police investigation that the crime was planned, but he also stated that it was not something he had planned for a long time. However, it was revealed that he purchased the weapon in advance at a large mart in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, two hours before the crime, and changed clothes immediately after the crime, indicating prior preparation.
On the 8th, the police arrested Choi on suspicion of murder. On the 10th, to understand Choi's motive, two profilers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's forensic investigation unit were brought in to interview Choi for about three hours. The profilers focused on establishing trust with Choi to elicit specific statements related to the case and verifying the truthfulness of his previous statements during the investigation to determine the motive. However, the psychopathy diagnostic test (PCL-R), which was expected to be conducted on the same day, was not carried out due to time constraints and other reasons. Based on the interview results, the police will decide whether to conduct the psychopathy diagnostic test on Choi. Additionally, the police plan to investigate the detailed circumstances of the crime through statements from Choi and those around him, as well as forensic analysis of his mobile phone, and to send the case to the prosecution next week before the expiration of the detention period.
The police decided not to disclose Choi's personal information. This was at the request of the bereaved family, as revealing Choi's identity could also expose the victim's identity. The university where Choi is enrolled is reported to have initiated internal disciplinary procedures against him.
