Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced that it will implement the ‘Gwangjin Living Plan B’ to help young residents aged 19 to 39 quickly adapt after moving in.
According to the district, as of January 2024, the youth population aged 19 to 39 in Gwangjin-gu is 116,576, accounting for 34.7 percent of the total 333,554 residents. This is about 4 percentage points higher than the Seoul city average of 30.5 percent, ranking second among Seoul’s autonomous districts in terms of youth population ratio.
Accordingly, the district has prepared a supplementary plan for Gwangjin Living to support the stabilization of young people who have newly moved into Gwangjin-gu since January this year. Gwangjin Living Plan B is promoted to help young people settle stably and to activate youth networks.
Every quarter, 30 people will be selected to receive a ‘Welcome Box’ gift and support for local exploration. The Welcome Box, containing three essential daily items, includes ▲diatomaceous earth bath mat ▲vacuum food waste bin ▲first aid kit.
Additionally, the local exploration program involves visiting local attractions such as food tours, Ttukseom Hangang Park, and attending performances.
A local exploration event is scheduled for the 30th. Young people who wish to participate in the local exploration can apply through the Seoul public reservation system. Anyone aged 19 to 39 who has newly moved in can apply, with the application period running until the 26th. Participants will be selected by random draw. For more details, contact the Job and Youth Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have prepared this project to help stabilize the lives of newly arrived young residents and to build social networks, so we hope for much interest and participation. We congratulate the youth taking their first step in moving in and will continue to develop customized policies to help them settle as members of the local community.”
