The Low Fertility and Aging Society Committee (LoFAS) will hold a meeting with 17 metropolitan cities and provinces on the 10th to promote nationwide cooperation in response to low birth rates.
At this meeting, the agenda will include △ sharing the current status of low birth rate policies by region △ presentations of exemplary low birth rate policies by local governments (Seoul, Busan, Gyeongbuk) △ and a comprehensive discussion on responses to low birth rates.
During the meeting, exemplary local government policies addressing low birth rates will be selected and categorized into three main areas: work-family balance and childcare support, and other supports related to marriage, childbirth, and housing, followed by sharing regional low birth rate policies.
Seoul, Busan, and Gyeongbuk will introduce their overall low birth rate policies by local government and then present and share policies that have received high satisfaction from local residents.
Subsequently, Vice Chairman Joo Hyung-hwan plans to promote the "Listening to the Voices of the People on Low Birth Rates: Nationwide Tour Meeting with 17 Metropolitan Cities and Provinces." The first session will be held at Incheon City Hall with Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok of Incheon, and the second session at Hongseong Family Harmony Center with Governor Kim Tae-heum of Chungnam, to hear the voices of residents from Incheon and Chungnam.
Additionally, the committee plans to gather on-site opinions by meeting with "policy demanders" such as dual-income families, infertile couples, and single-parent families; "childcare-related personnel" such as daycare centers and local children's centers; and "policy suppliers" including company representatives and HR managers. The low birth rate measures to be announced in May will also be shared with the regions.
