Soojin Lee, former division director at Australian private equity firm Macquarie Asset Management, has been promoted to executive director of the PEF division. She is the first Korean woman to lead an overseas private equity firm.
According to the PEF industry on the 9th, Macquarie Asset Management recently announced the promotion of the new executive director Lee. Macquarie Asset Management now has a total of four executive-level representatives, including Yonghwan Kim as the overall CEO, Joongsup Shin, and Beomsik Seo.

Director Lee graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in economics and completed a master's degree in economics at the University of Toronto in Canada. After working at a real estate investment company affiliated with General Electric (GE) in the United States, she joined Macquarie in 2008. Since then, she has been responsible for investment and management in tank terminals, waste, and other sectors.
Recently, she has been recognized for her achievements through acquisitions of companies such as DIG Airgas (formerly Daesung Industrial Gas), a specialty gas company; Aprotium (formerly Deokyang), a hydrogen specialist company; and Moving Joy (formerly Lokamobility), a transportation card company.
Director Lee is the first Korean woman to assume the position of head of an overseas private equity firm. Domestically, partners such as Sunhwa Shin of UCK Partners, Vice President Yujin Kim of IMM Private Equity, and Vice President Inkyung Lee of MBK Partners have stood out as executive-level figures.
