After the general election defeat, President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his administration has not risen above the mid-20% range.
According to a regular public opinion poll released on the 10th by Gallup Korea (conducted from the 7th to the 9th, via wireless phone interviews with 1,000 adults nationwide aged 18 and over), President Yoon's job performance approval rating was 24%, while the disapproval rating was 67%. Compared to the survey conducted two weeks earlier, the approval rating remained unchanged, while the disapproval rating increased by 2 percentage points.
Gallup stated, "President Yoon's job approval rating has remained at its lowest level since his inauguration for the past month following the general election." In fact, President Yoon's approval rating was 23% right after the election defeat, then 24% the following week. In this survey released two weeks later, the approval rating showed no change. However, this survey appears to have only limitedly reflected the impact of the 2nd anniversary press conference held during the survey period. On the last day of the Gallup survey, the 9th, President Yoon held a 2nd anniversary press conference to introduce the direction of his administration for the remaining three years.
President Yoon's approval rating is the lowest among all presidents who reached their 2nd anniversary in office since the 13th president, Roh Tae-woo.
Regarding party support, the People Power Party's approval rating rose by 1 percentage point to 34%, and the Democratic Party also increased by 1 percentage point to 30%. The Innovation Party dropped by 2 percentage points to 11%.
In the survey on preferred future political leaders for the next president, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, was favored by 23%, and Han Dong-hoon, former emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, by 17%. Following them were Cho Guk, leader of the Innovation Party, at 7%, and Hong Joon-pyo, mayor of Daegu, and Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform Party, each at 3%.
