"If You Want to Be Like Scheffler and Korda"... "Just Hit Simply"

A New Field Dominator Since Woods and Sorenstam
Scheffler's Recent 'Win-Win-Runner-up-Win-Win'
Korda Ties Record for Most Consecutive Wins with 5 Tournaments
'Driving the Fairway, Reaching the Green, Putting'

A new ‘superstar’ has emerged.

"If You Want to Be Like Scheffler and Korda"... "Just Hit Simply" Scottie Scheffler

In the U.S. professional golf scene, Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour and Nelly Korda on the LPGA Tour (both from the United States) are the main figures. They have dominated the men’s and women’s tours with no rivals in sight. It’s as if the ‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) and the ‘Living Golf Legend’ Annika Sorenstam (Sweden) have been resurrected. Woods amassed a record-tying 82 wins on the PGA Tour, including 15 major championships. Sorenstam also achieved 72 wins on the LPGA Tour, including 10 majors.

Watching Scheffler and Korda’s play this year is also exciting. Their powerful drives are followed by precise wedge shots, complemented by ‘stingy putting.’ They compete for the title in every tournament they enter. Their results are overwhelming. Scheffler’s recent five tournaments yielded ‘win-win-second place-win-win.’ As of the 12th, he has played in 10 tournaments, finishing in the top 10 nine times, including four wins. He leads overwhelmingly in wins, world ranking points (14.7116), money list ($18,693,235), FedEx Cup points (3915), and scoring average (68.743). Korda is no less impressive. In just seven tournaments, she has swept five consecutive wins. She ranks first in wins, world ranking points (12.18), money list ($2,493,708), Player of the Year points (184), scoring average (69.37), and CME Globe Race points (2785).

Every amateur golfer’s dream is how to play like these two. Golf.com recently analyzed the common trait shared by Scheffler and Korda: simplicity. “Watching their play, it looks easy. They hit the fairway, get on the green, and putt. It may seem like boring golf, but it’s the key to scoring low. In golf, approaching the game simply is important.”

Korda agreed with this. She emphasized, “Simplicity is key when taking shots on the course. If you think golf is complicated, you won’t get good results. Simplicity is important in golf.” Scheffler shares a similar mindset. Watching him hit balls at the practice range, he tries to keep everything simple. He explained, “I do the same routine in tournaments as in practice. It’s necessary to go back to the basics and fundamentals of golf.”

Amateur golfers are perfect at the practice range. They relax and swing smoothly. But on the course, it’s different. They tense up and try to hit hard. Generally, it is assumed that the world’s best players train in special ways and have different swings. However, Scheffler and Korda are the opposite. Their success comes from trying to keep everything simple. Golf.com advised, “Golf is a tough game. Making situations complicated only makes it harder. Approaching it simply is important. Simplicity is the best approach.”
