50 Projects...Pursuing 5 Major Strategies Including Yongsan-Type Jobs and Youth Job Foundation
Achieved 103.5% Job Creation Compared to Last Year's Target
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) has established and announced the detailed 2024 job creation plan in accordance with the Ministry of Employment and Labor's regional job target disclosure system. The plan includes creating 7,553 jobs this year and achieving an employment rate of 70.5%.
The district will promote a total of 50 projects under the vision of "Happy Yongsan where the local economy and cultural welfare coexist." Jobs are divided into public and private sectors.
In the public sector, the goal is to create a total of 7,376 jobs through ▲direct job creation (3,451 people) ▲employment services (2,508 people) ▲vocational skill development training (1,075 people) ▲startup support (194 people) ▲employment incentives (145 people) ▲job infrastructure establishment (3 people).
In the private sector, 177 people will be employed through seven projects including ▲youth enterprise loan support ▲promotion of tourism special zones ▲strengthening local brands ▲support for small and medium enterprise development funds.
Direct job creation includes public jobs managed by each district office department such as museum youth internships, companion job projects, and sports facility management. Employment services provided include an integrated job information network, Job Plus Center, metropolitan job cafes, and support for youth national certification and language test fees.
Vocational skill development training offers customized employment education and training such as strengthening employment capabilities for the new middle-aged and public-private cooperative job contest projects to enhance individual employment skills. Startup success is also supported through projects like operating startup support centers and creating campus towns.
The district plans to systematically pursue its goals by organizing these projects into five strategies and 26 detailed tasks: ▲discovering and implementing Yongsan-type jobs ▲establishing a foundation for youth jobs ▲revitalizing the local economy ▲expanding customized employment services ▲creating a foundation for quality jobs.
Detailed 2024 Yongsan-gu job creation plans can be found on the Yongsan-gu Office website and the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s regional employment information network.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, “We will continuously create jobs reflecting local characteristics and residents’ needs, focusing on the strategies and detailed tasks presented this year. We will also strengthen cooperation with private institutions to create an environment where all residents who want to work can find employment.”
Meanwhile, the district succeeded in creating 7,310 jobs, which is 103.5% of the target set last year. Despite challenges such as population and business operator declines, efforts to revitalize local commercial districts and create stable jobs have led to continuous increases in the employment rate and the number of employment insurance subscribers aged 15 to 64, rising from 67.6% and 148,231 people in 2021 to 69.5% and 156,028 people in 2023 over the past three years.
