Woman Who Fell Off Cliff by Husband in 2019
Fully Recovered After 5 Years of Rehabilitation...Expresses Gratitude to Rescuers
In 2019, a Chinese woman who traveled to Thailand for tourism suffered serious injuries after falling from a 34-meter cliff, breaking 17 bones, due to her husband. After receiving several treatments, the woman finally recovered and added warmth by embarking on a 'repayment trip' to express her gratitude to the rescuers who saved her at the time.

On the 9th, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Wang Nuan Nuan, who experienced this accident on the 20th of last month, visited Phatam National Park in Thailand to express her thanks to the rescuers who saved her. Earlier, Wang had an accident in June 2019 while on vacation in Thailand, where she fell from a 34-meter-high cliff due to her husband. Although she survived with 17 broken bones, the child she was three months pregnant with at the time died.
Afterwards, Wang underwent multiple surgeries and devoted herself to rehabilitation for five years. Once fully recovered, she immediately boarded a flight to Thailand. Wang explained her reason for the visit, saying, "The death of a friend's mother made me reflect on many things," and "I didn't want to leave any regrets, so I wanted to meet the people who helped me." She added, "I thought it would take 10 or 20 years before I could have the courage to come to Thailand, but that time is too long, and no one knows what the future holds."
Wang also shared travel videos on her social media. She expressed her gratitude, saying, "The reason I survived was not because of a miracle, but because many people did their best to help me." In the travel videos Wang posted, she is seen hugging rescuers at Phatam National Park with tears in her eyes, and visiting the local police station to present a red silk gratitude flag embroidered with Chinese and Thai characters to the officers who investigated her case.
Meanwhile, Wang’s husband was sentenced to 33 years and 4 months in prison by a Thai court after the third psychological evaluation held in June last year. Wang claims that her husband committed the crime to seize her inheritance to pay off his gambling debts and has filed for divorce. Local netizens who learned of the story responded with comments such as, "I hope she lives a peaceful and happy life from now on," "The person who knows gratitude is the coolest," and "It must have taken a lot of courage to visit the crime scene; she is truly admirable."
The Phatam National Park, which rescued Wang, emphasized, "The park always prioritizes the safety of tourists," and added, "We provide the latest life-saving equipment and regular personnel training to ensure tourists' safety is guaranteed at all times in emergencies."
