Free Transportation and Tourism Benefits Provided During the Chejeon Period
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) announced on the 9th that during the ‘53rd National Youth Sports Festival’ and the ‘18th National Disabled Students Sports Festival,’ visiting athletes to Shinan-gun will be able to use tourist attractions and public buses free of charge.
This initiative aims to wish for the successful hosting of the events and to promote the external image of Shinan-gun to youth nationwide.
The usage period is from the 14th to the 31st of this month, and the tourist sites with free admission include Anjwa Purple Island, where the Lavender Festival (May 17th?26th) is held, and Jaeun Museum Garden, which features various flowers and a cool sandy beach, among 16 tourist destinations. Detailed information will be provided through the Shinan-gun website.
Shinan-gun will host Go (Baduk) competitions during this event. It is the hometown of the world-renowned Go star Lee Sedol, known as the Mecca of Go, investing over 1 billion KRW annually to hold five professional, amateur, and student Go tournaments.
In particular, to nurture future Go talents, Shinan-gun operates after-school Go classes for elementary students, demonstrating exceptional passion for the promotion of Go.
A county official stated, “We hope for the successful hosting of the National Youth (Disabled Students) Sports Festival and encourage visitors to take time during the event period to visit Shinan-gun and create wonderful memories.”
