Choi Jong-won, Nakdonggang Cheong Director, Conducts On-site Inspection of Stockpiled Fertilizer to Reduce Algal Blooms

Choi Jong-won, Director of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, visited and inspected the compost stockpile site in Miryang-si, Gyeongnam Province on the afternoon of the 9th.

This inspection was conducted to verify whether the compost stockpiles, which cause algal blooms due to leachate during rainfall, are being properly managed. Compost stockpiles that were improperly stored were properly covered with new tarps to prevent leachate from occurring even during rain.

During the inspection, compost stockpiles on national and public lands will be collected, and those on private lands will be guided to be properly stored.

Director Choi stated, “To reduce algal blooms in the Nakdong River, we will focus on properly managing compost stockpiles before the full start of the rainy season,” and added, “We ask residents to actively participate in the proper management of compost.”
