Gwangju Metropolitan City's Buk-gu district is launching full-scale operations of the container-type pop-up exhibition hall "Fun Fun Art Box," created to establish a cultural urban environment that adds culture and art to residents' daily lives.
According to Buk-gu on the 9th, the "Fun Fun Art Box Opening Ceremony" was held from 2 PM to 4 PM at Jungheung Neighborhood Park. About 100 local residents attended, enjoying a bubble show and the ceremony, along with side events including a craft experience booth and lively congratulatory performances that lasted for two hours.
Fun Fun Art Box is a container-type exhibition hall established by Buk-gu last February to provide joy and vitality to ordinary daily life by creating art exhibition spaces in places frequently visited by residents such as plazas and parks.
The containers measure 6 meters wide, 3 meters deep, and 4 meters high, with the front and right sides made of glass to allow viewing inside from outside. They have been installed at three locations: Sinyongbitgoeul Neighborhood Park, Jungheung Neighborhood Park, and Bandabi Sports Center.
The Art Box operates as a night-specialized facility by using electric blinds during the day to cover the container glass and prevent artwork damage from direct sunlight, and by illuminating the interior lighting from sunset until midnight so residents can view the artworks at night.
Buk-gu plans to hold four exhibitions featuring local artists including young artists using the Art Box until October, and in November and December, it will display residents' works submitted through a photo contest. Additionally, various cultural events such as hands-on experiences and performances linked to the exhibited works will be held three times a year.
