Public Officials, 5870 Unit 4th Battalion, Fire Station
Approximately 270 Volunteers Deployed
Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 9th that about 270 people, including Hapcheon-gun public officials, the 4th Battalion of the 5870th Unit, the fire station, and volunteers, carried out flood damage restoration work at the damage site in Yangsan-ri, Daeyang-myeon.
This restoration work plans to deploy a total of about 600 personnel over three days starting from May 8th to swiftly carry out recovery efforts so that the disaster victims can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.
In addition to public officials, the restoration work involves 12 organizations and social groups in Hapcheon-gun, including the Saemaul Undong Hapcheon-gun Branch, the Volunteer Council, and the Volunteer Fire Brigade. The military unit is also participating in the restoration work, mobilizing all available manpower and resources in Hapcheon-gun.
Volunteers worked hard to minimize the residents' suffering by washing and drying items submerged in water with the mindset of cleaning their own homes.
County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, “I deeply sympathize with the sorrow and pain of the residents affected by the unexpected flood damage,” and added, “We will mobilize all available personnel to fully focus on flood damage restoration so that residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”
