According to this agreement, both universities agreed to collaborate on nurturing global SW talents, advancing educational programs, establishing cooperative systems, and developing academic cooperation opportunities related to teaching and learning.

Located in Melbourne, Australia, RMIT is a research-focused public university established in 1887. It has strengths in practical education such as internship programs in the IT field, which aligns well with the purpose of Yeungnam University’s SW education program to enhance capabilities in the SW sector. Students who complete this education program plan to participate in stepwise global employment competency enhancement programs, including overseas internships at global companies like Valeo SA, with which a recent business agreement was signed.

Jake Heinrich, CEO of RMIT University, stated, “This agreement will serve as an important foundation to promote the cultivation of global SW talents based on close cooperation between the two universities. RMIT will strive to provide the optimal educational environment to enhance the capabilities of Yeungnam University students.”

Park Yongwan, head of Yeungnam University SW-Centered University Project Group, said, “We are pleased to sign an agreement with a world-renowned university with a long tradition. Through mutual cooperation with RMIT, we will do our best in education and support so that Yeungnam University students can broaden their international perspectives and become competitive talents in the global SW industry.”

Yeungnam University SW-Centered University Project Group was selected for the ‘SW-Centered University Support Project’ led by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2023 and will receive a total of 18.9 billion KRW in support, including up to 15 billion KRW in government funding over a maximum of eight years until 2030.

Through this project, Yeungnam University aims to establish an SW education system applying core SW technologies such as Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Security, and to nurture specialized SW professionals in the key fields of the 4th Industrial Revolution, known as ‘MIDAS (Mobile, IoT, Data, AI, Security),’ leading the future growth engine of the SW industry.
