A story has been shared about a mountain hut shelter for hikers being transformed into a cat house. On the 9th, a post titled 'Simhak Mountain Cat Mom is Dizzy' spread across an online community. The author, Mr. A, opened up saying that he witnessed a shocking scene while hiking Simhak Mountain in Paju, Gyeonggi Province on the 4th.

According to Mr. A, the weather was warm on the first day of the holiday, so there were many hikers, and the octagonal pavilion at the summit was crowded with people resting. Therefore, Mr. A looked for another shelter and moved to a hut shelter he found before reaching the summit.
However, the hut shelter was no longer a resting place for people. In the photos posted by Mr. A, there were several cat houses on the floor, along with water and food. Bedding for cats also occupied the shelter chairs and floor, leaving very little space for people to sit.
Moreover, on one side of the table, there was a note saying, "To all visitors," requesting, "Please replenish water and food if they run low. Also, those who wish are asked to support with food and water."
Mr. A criticized, "The resting place for hikers has become a cat house," and asked, "Why is this happening? If they are so cute and pretty, why not take them home and raise them? Why make cat houses in places meant for people to use?" He also emphasized, "Do they mistakenly think everyone likes this kind of consideration for cats? I hope it is restored to its original state soon."
According to Mr. A, the shelter also had issues with foul odor and cat hair shedding. He added that he plans to file a complaint with Paju City.
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "I love cats and have one, but this behavior is too much," "Is it okay to occupy public spaces like that?" and "They should clean it up quickly and return it as a resting space for citizens."
