Professor Kim Dohyung of Dankook University Mentions Active Police Officer in Seocho
"Name Means Protecting Jeong Myungseok... Affiliated with Sasabu"
"There Is Also a Photo of Kneeling"... Seoul Cheong Begins Investigation
A current police officer is facing allegations of participating in the destruction of evidence related to the sexual assault charges against Jeong Myeong-seok (78), leader of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS), causing a stir. It has been claimed that the officer was given the name ‘Jusuhho,’ meaning ‘protector of Jeong Myeong-seok,’ and was active as a member of the ‘Sasabu,’ an organization formed to protect Jeong during police investigations.
On December 22 last year, Jung Myung-seok, the president of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS), was sentenced to 23 years in prison in the first trial. Kim Do-hyung, a professor at Dankook University and former head of 'Exodus,' a group supporting JMS victims, revealed this in an interview on June 8 with YTN Radio’s ‘Wise Radio Life.’ Professor Kim stated, “Sasabu is a department name derived from the last two characters of ‘criminal’ and ‘investigation,’ created with the purpose of protecting JMS leader Jeong Myeong-seok,” adding, “The person active in Sasabu is a current police inspector serving as a team leader at the Seocho Police Station.”
Professor Kim explained, “After the documentary about JMS titled ‘I Am God’ was released on Netflix, JMS held meetings to prepare for extensive investigations by the police and prosecution,” and continued, “These meetings to prepare for raids were held via Zoom, during which the inspector, who was an active police officer at the time, gave opinions on how to prepare for the raids and how to handle forensic procedures in case of cellphone confiscation.” He added, “The court ruling states that many JMS executives changed their cellphones, causing difficulties in the investigation.”
Professor Kim also claimed the officer was known by the name ‘Jusuhho.’ He said, “This is not his real name. The surname ‘Joo’ was bestowed by Jeong Myeong-seok. The name ‘Suho’ means ‘to protect the Lord,’ given by Jeong. He had a joint wedding ceremony within JMS, so his wife is also a JMS believer, and his entire family are JMS followers.”
He further stated, “There are photos of uniformed police officers from Sasabu kneeling and sitting together with Jeong Myeong-seok.” He added, “The head of Sasabu is not a police officer but a woman who is one of Jeong’s closest aides.”
He emphasized, “Even the police officers at Seocho Police Station must be very surprised that JMS believers were part of the organization,” and said, “The person known as Jusuhho is already mentioned in the confirmed court ruling. This should not be just an audit but should immediately proceed to an investigation and criminal punishment.”
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is reportedly investigating the inspector-level team leader at Seocho Police Station. Earlier, on June 7, Cho Ji-ho, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated, “An individual’s religious beliefs are generally not subject to investigation or inspection,” but added, “If religious beliefs lead to illegal acts or violations of obligations under the National Public Officials Act, they become subject to investigation or inspection.”
Jeong Myeong-seok was arrested and indicted on charges of sexually molesting and assaulting female believers at training centers in Geumsan County, Chungnam Province, from February 2018 to September 2021, and was sentenced to 23 years in prison in the first trial in December last year.
