A Van Blocking the Parking Lot Entrance for Over 10 Hours... Eventually Towed Away

A van that had been blocking the entrance to an underground parking lot of an apartment in Incheon for over 10 hours was eventually towed.

On the 8th, the Incheon Western Police Station announced that they had booked a man in his 30s, Mr. A, on charges of obstruction of business and seized his vehicle. Mr. A is accused of blocking the underground parking entrance with his van at an apartment in Seo-gu, Incheon, from 5:35 a.m. to 4:14 p.m. the previous day.

Although there was a residents-only entrance next to the visitor entrance where Mr. A parked, allowing vehicle passage, voices criticizing Mr. A grew as the situation continued for over 10 hours.

After analyzing the on-site closed-circuit television (CCTV), the police judged that Mr. A was obstructing the apartment management office’s work and proceeded to tow the vehicle.

The incident spread after a resident posted the related story on the online community 'Bobae Dream.' The resident claimed, "(Mr. A) said he hadn’t registered for parking and that he couldn’t park, then after a scuffle with the security guard, he parked like that and disappeared." They added, "The management office tried to verify if he was a resident by calling the phone number left on the vehicle several times, but the calls were not answered."

After Mr. A’s vehicle was towed, the resident posted another message explaining, "Thanks to the prompt action and response of the apartment’s Life Support Center, the police were dispatched, and the act of blocking the apartment entrance met the criteria for obstruction of business, resulting in the towing." They continued, "The Life Support Center proved the obstruction, and there were several pieces of evidence, including previous instances where (Mr. A) lied and entered the premises, which were recognized, leading to the urgent seizure and towing."

Meanwhile, a police official stated, "It has not yet been confirmed whether Mr. A is a resident or the reason for parking at the entrance," adding, "We plan to summon Mr. A soon to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident."
