"Thank You for Parental Grace"... Gwangjin-gu Holds the 52nd Parents' Day Senior Event

On the 8th, Unique Senior Events Held at 15 Dong Community Centers
Awarding Commendations to 30 Meritorious Persons, Delivering Filial Piety Packages to 3,500 Low-Income Seniors, etc.

"Thank You for Parental Grace"... Gwangjin-gu Holds the 52nd Parents' Day Senior Event

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held a senior citizens' event on the 8th to celebrate the 52nd Parents' Day, expressing respect and gratitude towards the elderly.


This event was organized at 15 community service centers, featuring unique programs for each district, including ▲awarding commendations to meritorious seniors ▲delivering filial piety gift packages ▲talent donation performances.


Fifteen exemplary seniors who devoted themselves to the local community and neighbors with a spirit of sacrifice and service, along with 15 filial piety practitioners and contributors to senior welfare, received commendations. In Junggok 1-dong, Kim Sook-ja, who was recognized for her filial piety by caring for her parents-in-law for 36 years and received the Presidential Award, was congratulated. Additionally, a delivery ceremony of filial piety gift packages, consisting of meal replacement convenience foods, snacks, and beverages, was held for 3,500 low-income seniors.


In particular, in Gunja-dong, a laughter therapy entertainment session was held, and in Junggok 4-dong, talent donation performances by students from Daewon Girls' High School brought big smiles to the seniors.


The seniors who attended the event expressed their gratitude, saying, “It was a day filled with joyful laughter after a long time. We are thankful for the opportunity to spend such a happy time.”


Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited the community service centers in Junggok 1-dong, Gunja-dong, Junggok 4-dong, and Guui 1-dong to congratulate and thank the award recipients, and wished the attending seniors a long and healthy life by holding their hands.


In his remarks, Mayor Kim stated, “In preparation for the rapidly progressing aging population, we will actively promote policies for seniors, including customized care services, leisure and cultural activities, and support for social activities.”
