Seoul City Kim Mijeong Financial Planning Officer Quietly Holds First Child's Wedding, Drawing Attention

About Two Months Ago, Quietly Held Eldest Daughter's Wedding Without Informing Others, Receiving Positive Reviews for Discreet Conduct

Kim Mi-jung, Seoul City Financial Planning Officer, attracted attention for reportedly not informing those around her when she married off her eldest daughter about two months ago.

Officer Kim began her public service career in Yeongdeungpo-gu through the 1990 Seoul City Level 7 open competitive exam (computer science position) and has served as head of the expenditure team, head of the budget general team, and director of the Education Support Policy Division at Seoul City.

Since then, she was promoted to Level 3 (Deputy Director) this January and currently serves as the Financial Planning Officer, the overall person in charge of Seoul City's budget, which has reached 50 trillion won.

Having served in public office at Seoul City for over 35 years, Officer Kim was later revealed to have held a wedding ceremony for her eldest daughter with only close family members, without informing those around her, earning evaluations such as "Truly generous, just like Kim Mi-jung."

In particular, public officials usually consider it basic etiquette to inform superiors, colleagues, and subordinates about personal events such as congratulations and condolences. It has become customary to announce family events like children's weddings on bulletin boards visible to employees.

Despite having worked at Seoul City for over 30 years and having offered congratulations and condolences to many people, Officer Kim’s choice not to announce her first child's wedding was by no means an easy decision.

Nevertheless, it was later revealed that Officer Kim held the wedding ceremony only with family and relatives, possibly out of concern that informing others might cause inconvenience.

Although Officer Kim is a woman, she is known for her bold personality and proactive approach to work, which has led to many achievements.

Coming from a computer science background, she was recognized for her skills to the extent that she was rarely appointed as the senior team leader of the Budget General Team in the Budget Office. Especially during her time as director of the Education Support Policy Division, she successfully established ‘Seoul Run,’ a project of Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s interest, which led to her promotion to Level 3 (Deputy Director).

Officer Kim is well regarded as a model senior public official who maintains good relationships not only with superiors but also with subordinates.
