'You and My Rose Signal'... The 20th Chosun University Rose Week

Every May, the Chosun University Rose Garden attracts tens of thousands of local residents who enjoy a colorful feast of roses, forgetting their tired daily lives and experiencing happiness. It is loved as a famous spot in Gwangju. Rose Week is expected to decorate Chosun University's beautiful campus even more splendidly.

The 20th Rose Week, held under the theme "Your and My Rose Signal," embodies the unwavering commitment of the university to coexist with the local community and move toward a new vision even after 20 years, reflecting the love for alma mater and the region of those who contributed to the creation of the Rose Garden.

The Rose Garden located within Chosun University spans 8,000㎡ and features about 18,000 rose bushes of 226 varieties from around the world, including Princess de Monaco, Jardin de France, Rusticana, and Inca. It started in May 2001, mainly by alumni of the College of Medicine, out of love for their alma mater and juniors. Each rose flower carries the noble spirit of the approximately 72,000 founding members from July 1946, expressing gratitude to the local residents who supported Chosun University’s growth into a prestigious private university in Honam.

Rose Week operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During the day, the colorful and splendid roses show off their beauty, and at night, the gentle lighting, music, and sweet fragrance of the roses come together to create a mysterious and romantic atmosphere.

The various programs held during Rose Week add to the enjoyment of visitors. On the 19th at 12 p.m., students from the K-Culture and Performance Planning Department will hold a busking event called Nanchun, and from the 17th to the 19th, the Educational Broadcasting Station will operate the Rose Caf?, where visitors can request songs and share stories, delighting their eyes and ears.

Additionally, the Chosun University Art Museum, Kim Bohyun Art Museum, and Museum will be open free of charge, enhancing the artistic joy of local residents. Furthermore, throughout the Rose Garden, photo zones and SNS events will provide entertainment, along with health-related campaigns, car exhibitions, art displays, and university promotions offering programs for all generations. Rest areas and various food zones will also be operated in multiple locations.

Chosun University has decided to keep the Rose Garden open until 9 a.m. on the 23rd, allowing free access even after Rose Week.
