Gwangju Seo-gu and KI Ecosystem Co., Ltd. Sign MOU for Resource Circulation Mobile App

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) signed a business agreement with KI Ecosystem Co., Ltd. on the 8th to establish the resource circulation mobile app ‘OnReuse’.

According to Seo-gu on the day, the app name OnReuse is a compound word combining ‘ON,’ meaning ‘continuously,’ and ‘Reuse,’ meaning ‘to reuse,’ expressing the creation of a sustainable resource circulation practice culture led by residents.

The two organizations promised to mutually cooperate on administrative and financial matters to provide administrative information more easily to residents, such as ▲status of resource circulation stores ▲status of unmanned recycling collection machines ▲location guidance of illegal dumping CCTV ▲location guidance of volume-based waste bag and payment certificate sales points.

Seo-gu plans to complete app development within this month and use it to collect data from resource circulation stores, which have expanded to all 18 neighborhoods this year, in real time and manage the collection status of recyclable items by category collected at resource circulation stores.

In particular, residents will be able to check the carbon reduction amount (equivalent to the effect of planting pine trees) of the recyclable materials they dispose of using the app and easily apply to convert accumulated points at resource circulation stores into cash.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “We will strive to systematically manage resource circulation information using OnReuse and to easily deliver various administrative information that residents need,” adding, “We will do our best for a sustainable Seo-gu through the establishment of an integrated resource circulation app.”
