Highest Number of Fatal Accidents Since Serious Accident Punishment Act Enforcement
A fatal accident occurred at the Ulleung Airport construction site, where DL E&C is carrying out construction work.
According to related industries on the 8th, at 11:01 a.m. on the 8th, a male worker (born in 1960) died while working at the Ulleung Airport construction site in Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk. He was buried when soil collapsed while excavating a slope with an excavator.
The Pohang branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s Industrial Accident Division and the Daegu branch’s Investigation Division immediately launched an investigation into the accident and took strict measures such as halting work. A Pohang branch official said, "It is indeed a serious accident, and we have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident."
A serious accident refers to cases where one or more deaths occur, two or more injuries requiring treatment for six months or longer result from the same accident, or three or more cases of occupational diseases such as acute poisoning caused by the same harmful factor occur within one year.
DL E&C has recorded the highest number of fatal accidents since the Serious Accident Punishment Act was enacted.
