On the 8th, the Jongno Police Station announced the launch of the "Wall Patrol Team" for crime prevention around Gyeongbokgung Palace in collaboration with Jongno-gu Office and the Cultural Heritage Administration's Gyeongbokgung Management Office at Gwanghwamun Woldae.
The Wall Patrol Team consists of the Jongno Police Station, the Cultural Heritage Administration's Gyeongbokgung Management Office, the Cultural Heritage Division of Jongno-gu Office, and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit. They cooperate to conduct joint patrols around Gyeongbokgung Palace and inspect crime prevention facilities such as CCTV and security lights to identify areas for improvement.
About 30 members of the patrol team participated in a cross-directional patrol along the Gyeongbokgung Palace walls, from Dongsipja-ro in Jongno-gu toward Chunchoo Gate and from Jeokseon-ro toward Sihwa Gate. They also stationed patrol cars near Yeongchumun and Geonchunmun to minimize blind spots.
A police official stated, "The recently launched 'Wall Patrol Team' will conduct visible patrol activities closely connected to citizens during the holiday season, and we will thoroughly analyze security risk factors around tourist sites to create a safe Jongno."
