The metropolitan railway construction project connecting Daejang New Town in Bucheon City and Hongdae Entrance Station in Mapo-gu has passed the Private Investment Project Deliberation Committee.
On the 8th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance held the "2nd Private Investment Project Deliberation Committee of 2024," chaired by Vice Minister Kim Yoon-sang, and reviewed and approved three project agendas, including the Daejang~Hongdae Line implementation agreement.
The Ministry expects that the completion of the Daejang~Hongdae metropolitan railway will alleviate traffic congestion in the southwestern region of Seoul. Once the railway opens, the commuting time for residents of Daejang New Town to the Seoul metropolitan area is expected to be reduced from 50 minutes to 25 minutes. The project is scheduled to start construction next year and aims for completion in 2031.
Additionally, the implementation agreement for relocating and modernizing the old Chuncheon public sewage treatment facility by expanding and moving it underground, and creating parks and sports facilities on the surface, was also approved. The amendment to the implementation agreement for the Gwangmyeong~Seoul Expressway was approved as well. Once opened in 2027, it will take only 22 minutes to travel from Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province to Banghwa-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
Finally, to revitalize private investment projects, the government approved the "2024 Private Investment Project Basic Plan Amendment," which simplifies submission documents and shortens various investigation periods.
