[Special Stock] Aekyung Chemical, More Economical than Lithium-Ion... Expected to Mass-Produce World's Best SIB Hard Carbon

Aekyung Chemical is showing strong performance. The news of successfully developing high-performance hard carbon used as the base material for anode materials in Sodium Ion Batteries (SIB) appears to be influencing its stock price.

As of 11:05 AM on the 8th, Aekyung Chemical is trading at 14,520 KRW, up 17.1% from the previous day.

The hard carbon developed by Aekyung Chemical reportedly has world-class performance, with a discharge capacity and efficiency exceeding 300 mAh/g and 90%, respectively, according to the company. They have also succeeded in actual production of high-performance products in mass production facilities, completing preparations for large-scale manufacturing.

SIB is a future alternative battery that is gaining attention for being more economical and environmentally friendly than lithium-ion batteries. This is why the global SIB market is expected to exceed $500 million by 2027. Battery manufacturers worldwide are also moving toward the commercialization of SIB.

Aekyung Chemical was the first in Korea to develop and mass-produce hard carbon for secondary battery anode materials in 2012.

Aekyung Chemical stated, "Having completed the development of high-performance hard carbon and succeeded in producing prototypes, we are now able to respond quickly to customer demands," adding, "We also plan to review full-scale investments to establish a mass production system, including facility expansion."
