Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold the '2024 D.FESTA Street Performance Festival' around Marronnier Park in Daehak-ro on the 11th and 12th.
Hosted by the Korea Small Theater Association and sponsored by Jongno-gu, the D.FESTA Street Performance Festival is an event led by young artists who will lead the performing arts scene in Korea, aimed at developing performance culture outside theaters. It is meaningful in that it offers a special experience of encountering various genres such as theater, dance, and musicals not in performance halls but on the streets.
This year's festival, under the theme "Together, Daehak-ro," will present 3 produced performances, 1 opening performance, 1 invited performance, and 7 planned performances. The produced performances include Baekje Giak Jeonseung Preservation Society's "Baekje Journey," Theater Ensemble's "The Road to Marriage," and Theater-in-Concert's "with concert." The opening performance will be decorated by the traditional Korean music rock band Knocking's "soONE." The invited performance is scheduled to be Event Jaemi's "Storytelling Magic Show that Opens the Heart."
The planned performances preparing to meet the audience include Jeong Chanhee's "Very Obvious FUN Daehak-ro - The Ghost of Marronnier," Kim Cello x Irene's "Daehak-ro, Let's Play," Musical Ensemble With's "Knock Knock Knocking on," Clown Maru's "Jit.Jit.Jit," Raoniel's "Daehak-ro in My Heart," Realbro's "MBTI Dream," and Art Company Donghaeng's "Cinema in Daehak-ro."
Jongno-gu stated, "We aim to provide diverse performing arts experiences and unforgettable memories to citizens visiting Daehak-ro over the weekend," adding, "We hope many people will show interest in D.FESTA, where the entire streets of Daehak-ro, not indoor theaters, become the stage."
