Shinan-gun Increases Sunshine Child Allowance by 100%, Providing 800,000 Won Annually

Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 8th that the 2024 first half Sunlight Child Allowance began concentrated distribution at the relevant eup/myeon offices from the 1st to the 3rd, and plans to complete payment of both scholarship savings and child allowances by May.

The Sunlight Child Allowance, first implemented nationwide last year, has been increased by 100% this year, providing 400,000 KRW per half-year and 800,000 KRW annually per child.

With the new launch of the Sunlight Child Savings, the number of beneficiaries including those receiving the Sunlight Pension has increased by 69 compared to last year, totaling 2,888 people expected to benefit.

The number of subscribers to the Sunlight Child Savings launched this year is 1,246, representing a subscription rate of 43% of all children. The total amount paid for the first half Sunlight Child Allowance, including savings, reaches 1.155 billion KRW, totaling 2.31 billion KRW annually.

A county official stated, “We consider the doubling of the allowance compared to last year a remarkable achievement,” and added, “We expect that the Sunlight Child Savings and Sunlight Child Allowance will greatly help support the healthy growth and hopeful future of children in Shinan-gun and alleviate the economic burden on families.”

Kim Jeong-dae, chairman of the association, said, “We are pleased to hold the commemorative ceremony and provide the allowance again this year following last year,” and expressed hope that “the Sunlight Child Allowance will contribute to improving child welfare and addressing the population decline issue.”
