Holding a Communication Meeting with Business Leaders and Proposing Key Issues
The Mokpo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Jeong Hyuntaek) announced on the 8th that it held a communication meeting with entrepreneur Kim Won-yi, a member of the National Assembly, on the 7th to discuss and propose major issues in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do.
At this meeting, they proposed key issues to leverage the synergy of administrative and educational integration, promote the revitalization of Muan Gong International Airport, and address the long-standing demand for medical welfare services for residents of the western region for 34 years as part of policy revision efforts.

The main proposals included △ administrative integration of Mokpo City ? Muan Peninsula (Mokpo City, Muan County, Sinan County) △ integration of the National Mokpo Maritime University and the National Mokpo University △ prompt relocation of Gwangju Airport and revitalization of Muan Airport △ establishment of a medical school at National Mokpo University.
In addition, the Mokpo Chamber of Commerce and Industry requested that Sapjin Port, located nearby, be designated and developed as a national fishing port to replace Mokpo North Port, whose fishing vessel capacity has reached saturation.
Chairman Jeong Hyuntaek stated, “The issues presented at today’s meeting have been consistently proposed by the local community and are long-standing challenges that have not been resolved. The 25th decision-making body of the Mokpo Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to convey the voices of the local community and faithfully fulfill its role as an economic organization representing the regional economy.”
