The 70th Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival opened on the 9th at Paju Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri and will be held for three days until the 11th.
With the slogan "Citizen-centered, Greater Paju, United Gyeonggi Residents!", this event features 11,610 athletes from 31 cities and counties within the province competing in 27 sports including athletics, swimming, and soccer.
For the first time, the entire duration of the festival will achieve RE100 by switching all electricity used during the event to renewable energy. Notably, the Selangor State team from Malaysia, which is cooperating with the Gyeonggi Sports Council in sports exchanges, will participate as observers with 8 members (4 athletes and 4 officials).
All sports events at the festival are free for anyone to watch. Detailed schedules and results can be found on the official Gyeonggi Sports Festival website (https://pjsports.paju.go.kr/main/main.php).
Meanwhile, in March, Gyeonggi-do, together with Paju City, conducted safety inspections of the venues with the Sports Safety Foundation, an external professional organization, and followed up with additional inspections in April along with Paju City and the Gyeonggi Sports Council.
During the festival, safety managers will be assigned to each venue, and safety operation manuals will be distributed to ensure a safe event.
