Dongdaemun-gu and Donga Mentoring 29th Group Plant 70 Metasequoia Trees Along Jungnangcheon in 7 Days
On the 7th, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a Metasequoia tree planting event along the Jungnangcheon area in collaboration with Dong-A Socio Group.
Based on the philosophy of "Growing Together," Dong-A Socio Group, which has been engaged in various social contribution activities, created the "Metasequoia Road (Dong-A Forest Road)" along the Jungnangcheon walking trail for a sustainable future.
About 80 employees from the 29th Dong-A Mentoring program participated in the event, planting 70 Metasequoia trees along both sides of the Jungnangcheon walking trail, installing support stakes, and watering the trees while wishing for their healthy growth.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and Jung Jae-hoon, CEO of Dong-A Socio Holdings, also visited the event site to lend their support.
CEO Jung said, "I am pleased that the tree planting event, which contributes to realizing Dong-A Socio Group's core value of 'Growing Together' and protecting the environment of Dongdaemun-gu, was successfully conducted. We will continue to actively participate in meaningful events in Dongdaemun-gu."
Mayor Lee stated, "We will strive to make this Metasequoia Road, where the first shovel was turned today, a representative tourist attraction symbolizing a carbon-neutral Dongdaemun-gu."
The district plans to plant Metasequoia, a representative eco-friendly tree that absorbs and decomposes fine dust and carbon dioxide to purify urban air, along the Jungnangcheon walking trail, creating a space symbolizing Dongdaemun-gu as a "carbon-neutral city" and a "city of flowers."
