Prosecutors Appeal 1st Trial Acquittal of Jeon Jang-yeon Over 'Hundreds of Subway Station Stickers' Case

Three individuals, including Park Kyung-seok, co-chairperson of the National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Jeonjangyeon), who were prosecuted for property damage after placing hundreds of stickers in a subway station, were acquitted in the first trial, but the prosecution appealed the decision.

On the 7th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had filed an appeal against the first trial ruling that acquitted Park, who was tried for joint property damage under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts. The prosecution also appealed the acquittals of Kwon Dal-ju, co-chairperson, and Moon Ae-rin, representative of the Seoul Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities.

The prosecution stated, "It has been confirmed that about 30 employees at Samgakji Station carried out restoration work for two days, making it difficult to restore the site to its original condition," and added, "Considering the considerable inconvenience and discomfort caused to passengers, we judged that the defendants are guilty of property damage and therefore appealed."

Park, Kwon, and Moon were reported last year on February 13 for damaging public facilities by holding a press conference at Samgakji Station on Seoul Subway Line 4, placing stickers demanding budgets for the disabled and securing mobility rights on the platform floor and walls, and spraying lacquer spray.

Previously, the prosecution had requested fines of 5 million won for Park and 2 million won each for Kwon and Moon.
