[Future Business Forum] KT Pursuing Customer-Perceived AI Transformation... Appoints Executive Director Lee Sejeong

Sejeong Lee, Executive Director at KT (photo), is one of the external talents ambitiously recruited by CEO Youngseop Kim earlier this year. Director Lee has gained experience as an AI and big data technology expert while working in various fields such as Hyundai Card, NCSoft, and Weidaehan Sangsang (Yogiyo). Last November, he joined KT as the head of the newly established AI Service Lab under the Technology Innovation Division through an organizational restructuring. The Technology Innovation Division was created by KT to strengthen non-telecommunication areas such as AI. The plan is to leverage AI technology and big data to build competitiveness that customers can truly feel.

On the 8th, Director Lee said, "We are working on data standardization and establishing a governance system to understand and utilize AI and data from an enterprise-wide perspective." He is developing customized solutions to help KT employees improve work efficiency through AI agents in the future. Detailed stories about Director Lee’s role and the functions of the AI Service Lab can be heard at the ‘Asia Future Enterprise Forum’ to be held on the 22nd at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul. On that day, he will participate in a panel discussion moderated by Professor Sooyong Park of Sogang University, along with Seungjoo Na, Executive Director of Intel Korea, Sangho Lee, CEO of Mandro, and Woohyung Lim, Executive Director of LG AI Research Institute, to discuss business using AI technology.

KT is making all-out efforts to transform into an AI company. Recently, on Labor Day, it built an industrial safety management platform called ‘All-in Safety’ using generative AI. This platform is an application designed to prevent safety accidents at telecommunications construction sites. When a field worker registers a work plan on the mobile app, AI initially assesses the risk and automatically classifies the risk level, then delivers it to the safety manager. It has learned data from over 10 years of telecommunications construction and safety standards.

KT Group’s media and content companies plan to expand K-content based on AI capabilities. Skylife TV, which operates Channel ENA, recently introduced a new slogan for the ENA channel on its 20th anniversary. This slogan was produced using the voice of ‘ENA,’ an AI voice developed based on KT’s AI Voice Studio service. ENA will actively engage with viewers on the ENA channel going forward. KT plans to lead the development of the media content industry by partnering with various collaborators who want to cooperate centered on AI technology.

In addition, KT has secured various AI technologies necessary for customers, such as the ‘Magic Platform’ solution that allows users to select only desired characters or scenes in replay content, ‘Aviation Network Specialized Technology’ for next-generation mobility urban air mobility (UAM), ‘LangTalk AI Call Report’ that analyzes and summarizes conversations between teachers and parents based on large language models (LLM), and ‘AI Spam Blocking’ that analyzes and blocks spam messages using AI.
