‘K-Weapons’ Target Southeast Asia… LIG Nex1 Participates in Malaysia Defense Expo ‘DSA 2024’

Exhibition of Cheongung II, Haegung, Shingung Guided Weapons and Counter-Battery Radar

Sequential Participation in the Philippines and Indonesia in the Second Half, Promoting Market Expansion

Guided weapons developed by LIG Nex1 are targeting the Southeast Asian market.

LIG Nex1 announced on the 7th that it participated in the defense exhibition ‘DSA (Defence Services Asia) 2024’ held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from the 6th to the 9th.

DSA is a specialized defense and security exhibition organized by the Malaysian government since 1988. It is a prestigious exhibition that has continued for nearly 40 years, with 1,200 companies from over 60 countries worldwide participating this year.

Participating for the second time since 2022, LIG Nex1 is showcasing its export-focused guided weapons including the medium-range surface-to-air guided weapon ‘Cheongung II’, the ship-based air defense guided weapon ‘Haegung’, the portable surface-to-air guided weapon ‘Shingung’, and the anti-tank guided weapon ‘Hyeongung’, as well as the advanced ‘Counter-Battery Radar’ system which has high local demand.

The company plans to promote guided weapon systems optimized for local terrain and battlefield environments to military officials from Southeast Asia visiting the exhibition, not only from Malaysia, and conduct various local meetings to expand export markets.

In addition, LIG Nex1 will focus on promoting Cheongung II and Haegung, which Malaysia has shown deep interest in as part of its national defense strengthening strategy. Cheongung II has been consecutively exported to major Middle Eastern countries and has been globally recognized for its excellent performance relative to its price.

Lee Hyun-soo, head of LIG Nex1’s Overseas Business Division, who oversees the exhibition locally in Malaysia, said, “As a comprehensive defense company, we will focus on introducing the advanced technology and world-class competitiveness we have accumulated from radar to guided weapons,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that global interest in K-defense extends beyond Europe and the Middle East to Southeast Asia.”

LIG Nex1 is enhancing its status as a global defense company, having announced a 4 trillion KRW contract for Cheongung II with Saudi Arabia earlier this year. Following this DSA exhibition, the company plans to consecutively enter exhibitions in the Philippines in September and Indonesia in November to further expand its presence in the Southeast Asian market.
