Smart3, Low Carbon Product Certification
Only in IPTV Industry... ESG Achievements
The set-top box, once labeled as an 'electricity-consuming hippo,' has received low-carbon product certification. SK Broadband's 'Smart3' reduced power consumption by 65% compared to other models by adopting a low-power system semiconductor.
SK Broadband announced on the 6th that its set-top box Smart3 has obtained low-carbon product certification from the Ministry of Environment. As a result of practicing ESG management, Smart3 is currently the only set-top box in the IPTV industry to receive this certification.
The low-carbon product certification is a system managed by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment. It certifies products that have received Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification and have reduced carbon emissions, with carbon emissions lower than the average of similar products. The certification is valid for three years.
From the planning stage through development and production, Smart3 focused on reducing carbon emissions. By adopting optimized low-power system semiconductors, its standby power consumption is up to 65% lower than other models. The standby power consumption per hour is 1.2W.
The Smart3 set-top box comes in two types: 'BFX-AT100' manufactured by ALT and 'BID-AT200' manufactured by KX Intec. Kim Young-hoon, head of product development at SK Broadband, stated, "We plan to contribute to carbon emission reduction through the development of various programs in the future."
