The area around Banghwa Neighborhood Park in Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) has transformed into a fairy tale kingdom for children. Gangseo-gu announced that it held the "12th Gangseo Children's Fairy Tale Festival" on the 4th, the day before Children's Day, under the theme "Adventure in a Fairy Tale with the Color Wizard."
The fairy tale festival has established itself as a representative children's festival in the region, attracting over 10,000 family visitors annually. This year, it was held successfully with a record-breaking crowd of about 20,000 visitors.
The festival began with a "street parade," featuring children dressed as fairy tale characters such as Beauty and the Beast, the Snow Queen, and the Little Prince marching through the streets. Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon also joined the procession, walking alongside the children. The parade took place over approximately 800 meters from Gangseo Technical High School to the main event site at Banghwa Neighborhood Park.
At the main stage inside the park, Mayor Jin and the Hanbyeol Children's Choir performed a congratulatory show together. The event venue was filled with a variety of programs that families could enjoy together, including fun activities, celebratory performances, and food booths. Children wearing headbands and holding balloons, lines waiting for rides such as the carousel and UFO bumper cars, and kids joyfully playing on the air bounce all evoked the atmosphere of an amusement park.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, "Seeing the children smiling brightly and having fun fills my heart with joy and happiness," adding, "I hope this becomes a happy and enjoyable memory for both children and their parents."
The fairy tale festival is a celebration created by local libraries and residents to foster children's imagination and creativity. It was made possible by the voluntary participation of about 1,000 people, including eight local public libraries, the Small Library Association, a military band, local middle and high school students, and cultural artists who took part in the parade.
