Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Suyeong-gu, Busan (District Mayor Kang Seong-tae) to collaborate in the fields of cultural content and design.
The signing ceremony was held on the 30th of last month in the main conference room of Dong-A University's Seunghak Campus, attended by President Lee, District Mayor Kang, Dong-A University’s LINC3.0 Project Director Choi Jeong-ho, Director of External and International Affairs Park Hyun-tae, Deputy Director of LINC3.0 Project Kim Woo-saeng, Suyeong-gu Office’s Culture and Tourism Division Head Kang Doo-ri, Cultural City Planning Section Chief Jeong Suk-ju, and Cultural City Specialist Lee Woo-cheol, among other officials from both sides.
Through this agreement, Dong-A University and Suyeong-gu will engage in supporting the training of local cultural personnel, collaborative projects for developing Suyeong-gu’s cultural brand, participation in curriculum operation using both curricular and extracurricular programs, industry-academia cooperation for operating the Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE), and discovering content to solve regional issues.
Suyeong-gu, Busan, was selected as a ‘Korea Cultural City’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism last year and is promoting various cultural projects under the vision of ‘Suyeong, a cultural connection city growing together from alleys to the sea.’
President Lee said, “This agreement with Suyeong-gu Office, which has greatly contributed to the development of Busan’s tourism industry and regional economy, will provide students with opportunities to enhance their capabilities such as support for cultural content production, and offer local governments design research consulting, creating a mutually beneficial opportunity.”
He added, “I hope this will become a model case that positively influences the development of both institutions by laying the groundwork for sustainable regional economic revitalization.”
District Mayor Kang said, “In the year Suyeong-gu takes its first step toward becoming a cultural city, we have signed an agreement with Dong-A University as the optimal partner for the success of the Minrak Waterfront Park Light Festival (Minrak Luce Festa). I have high expectations for the professors and students and hope to achieve great results.”
