Creating a Venue for Promoting Unity and Communication Between Military and Civilians
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on May 3rd, it held the ‘44th Gokseong Residents' Day Commemoration Event’ at the Gunmin Hall, attended by about 450 people including residents, hometown visitors, and heads of institutions and social organizations.
The Residents' Day event is an occasion to promote the development of the county and to pledge harmony and unity among residents. This year, it was held indoors and proceeded in the order of a pre-ceremony performance, awarding of the Residents' Award, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and congratulatory videos. In the second part, broadcaster Lee Hong-ryul gave a special lecture on residents' happiness under the theme ‘Positive Life and Laughter.’
This year’s Gokseong Residents' Awards were bestowed upon Lee Jae-baek from Moksadong-myeon and Kim Seong-jung from Ip-myeon for their contributions to improving the educational environment and the development of literature in the education and culture & sports sectors; Lee Jae-bak from Osan-myeon for his contributions to fostering a filial piety atmosphere in the community in the social welfare and filial piety sector; and Yang Byeong-su from Samgi-myeon for his contributions to enhancing the competitiveness of Gokseong-gun’s agriculture in the agriculture and environment sector, each receiving the honor of the award.
Additionally, due to busy schedules, Representative-elect Kwon Hyang-yeop and heads of 10 sister and exchange city organizations sent congratulatory messages, sincerely celebrating Residents' Day and further enhancing the significance of the commemoration ceremony.
In his commemorative speech, County Governor Lee Sang-cheol said, “We are focusing all our capabilities on prioritizing the happiness of residents and preparing customized happiness policies for each life cycle to improve the quality of life for all residents, from children to the elderly. Only the active participation of residents can draw a bright future for Gokseong, and we will always ask and seek from the residents to create a happier Gokseong, so we ask for your great interest in county administration.”
Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun attracted a pumped-storage power plant worth 1.4 trillion won last year to create stable jobs, established a sustainable growth foundation through the development project of the 2nd Agricultural Industrial Complex in Gyeom-myeon, and is actively promoting policies to attract living population to actively respond to the crisis of local extinction.
