Prosecution Adds Charges Against Oh Jaewon for Methamphetamine Possession

Former professional baseball player and national team member Oh Jae-won (39), who is on trial for habitual use of methamphetamine and other drugs, has been additionally indicted on charges of receiving methamphetamine.

The Violent Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yeon-sil) announced on the 3rd that Oh was additionally indicted for receiving approximately 0.2g of methamphetamine from an acquaintance, Lee, in November of last year (violation of the Narcotics Control Act).


Previously, the prosecution had sent Oh to trial last month on charges of using methamphetamine 11 times and receiving 2,242 tablets of zolpidem-based sleeping pills.


The supplier Lee, who was also sent to trial on this day, is accused of handing over 0.2g of methamphetamine to Oh and selling and injecting 250ml of sleeping anesthetic five times from December last year to January this year. Additionally, Lee is charged with selling 400 narcotic sleeping pills to Oh in 21 transactions from August last year to January this year (violations of the Narcotics Control Act, Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, and Medical Service Act).
