Silla University Teacher Training Institute Completes SCE Civic Education International Forum

Silla University (President Heo Nam-sik) College of Education and Graduate School of Education announced on the 3rd that they successfully held the ‘SCE (Silla Citizenship Education) International Forum on Citizenship Education.’


The Teacher Training Institution Citizenship Education Capacity Building Project Group, operated by Silla University College of Education and Graduate School of Education, held the ‘SCE International Forum on Citizenship Education’ on the 2nd at Lotte Hotel, aiming to share excellent citizenship education cases and achievements from glocal networking institutions.


At the forum, keynote presentations were delivered on topics such as ▲‘Directions and Cases for Strengthening Citizenship Education Capacity’ by Professor Valela from Caraga State University in the Philippines ▲‘Citizenship Education Cases from the Perspective of Community Citizenship and Multicultural Citizenship’ by Vice Principal Masami Hadana of Osaka Geumgang Overseas Korean School ▲‘Development and Operation Cases of Community Participation-Centered Citizenship Education Curriculum’ by Dr. Kim Pil-seong of the Regional Innovation Capacity Education Research Center at Pusan National University ▲‘The Necessity and Expansion Plans of ESG Citizenship Movement’ by Director Kim Sung-geun of Silla University ESG Management Research Institute, focusing on fostering ecological citizenship among pre-service teachers.


Additionally, a ‘SG Citizenship Movement Practice Proclamation Ceremony’ was held for attendees, providing an opportunity to strengthen the citizenship education capacity of pre-service teachers.


Professor Eom Kyung-heum, head of the SCE Project Group at Silla University, stated, “Through this international forum, we plan to continuously promote solidarity with glocal networking institutions,” and added, “We will do our best to train pre-service teachers equipped with glocal citizenship education capabilities.”


Silla University College of Education and Graduate School of Education was selected for the ‘2023 Citizenship Education Capacity Building Project for Pre-Service Teachers at Teacher Training Universities’ announced by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
