At the ceremony, professors and students from the Department of Architectural Engineering and the Architecture Major, as well as Vice President Kim Young-bok, Dean of the College of Engineering Kim Young-jin, Dean of the College of Information Convergence Song Ha-ju, Honorary Professor Lee Soo-yong, President of the Alumni Association Seo Young-ok, President of the Korean Architectural Institute Park Jin-chul, and former presidents of the Pukyong Architecture Alumni Association Jeon Shin-gyu, Park Man-sik, and Kim Seok-jo attended.
The 100th anniversary ceremony of the founding of the Department of Architecture is being held at the National Pukyong University.
The Department of Architectural Engineering and the Architecture Major at this university originated from the Gaguga Department established 100 years ago in 1924. This department, which was also the pioneer of architecture departments in Korea, was reorganized into the Department of Architecture in 1933, then into the School of Architectural Engineering in 2000, and finally split into two departments, Architectural Engineering and Architecture, in 2011.
Participants at the ceremony commemorated the 100-year history of architecture founding together by watching a 100th anniversary commemorative video and participating in a celebratory rice cake cutting ceremony.
Vice President Kim Young-bok emphasized, “The two departments have greatly contributed to the development of our university as a specialized comprehensive national university and have led education and research in the field of architecture in Korea.”
Vice President Kim added, “I hope the two departments will continue to nurture creative professionals and become a prestigious educational institution in the field of architecture, contributing not only to our university but also to the development of the region, the nation, and the world.”
