HD Hyundai's intermediate holding company, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, has secured orders for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
On the 3rd, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced that it recently signed a construction contract for two LNG carriers with an African shipping company. The total contract value is 733.4 billion KRW. The LNG carriers ordered this time will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and are scheduled to be delivered to the shipowner by May 2028.
Including this order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of 96 vessels (including one offshore facility) worth 11.1 billion USD (approximately 15.133 trillion KRW) this year alone. This amount corresponds to 82.2% of the annual order target of 13.5 billion USD.
By vessel type, the orders include 8 LNG carriers, 32 petrochemical product carriers (PC vessels), 36 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 1 ethane carrier, 2 liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, 6 very large crude carriers (VLCC), and 4 special vessels.
